FAQ

To allow us to be open and honest with you, we ask that you be open, honest, and transparent from the beginning of your application. All fostering applications must satisfy a series of checks, including a DBS check, references, and a local authority check. There are a couple of offences that can automatically exclude you from becoming a foster carer, which we can advise you about.
You will need to have a spare bedroom available for fostering because all foster children aged 2 and above need their own bedroom. Siblings may be able to share in some cases, but their social worker will make the final decision. Foster children are not permitted to share a bedroom with your own children.
Fostering is open to anybody, whether single, married, or living together, and your race, religion, or sexuality will not prevent you from applying. We are looking for families who can help children in need, and we welcome people of all faiths, backgrounds, genders, and sexual orientations to apply.
You can have pets, but the type and number are limited. Pitbull Terriers, Japanese Tosa, Fila Braziliero, Dogo Argentino, and any other aggressive dogs are forbidden under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991. Your application may also be declined if you have any reptiles.
Although some children in your care may not speak English as a first language, you will need to interact with your Supervising Social Worker and other English-speaking professionals as a foster carer. If English is not your first language, we would need to discuss this with you and consider an appropriate way of working and communicating with you.
No, once you have been approved as a foster carer, we will help you achieve the training and development requirements that all foster carers must meet.
Yes, you will be paid weekly into the bank account you designate. Our allowances are based on your experience and the ages of the children you will be caring for. If you are claiming benefits, you may still be entitled for some of them whilst receiving the fostering allowance; however, you will need to obtain advice from the Department of Work and Pensions on this.

Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us and a member of our team will be pleased to assist you.
